Only this time around, he’s convinced that he must continue to follow the “path of the dragon,” and find Dracula once and for all. As his investigation continues, the Father will learn that several characters are not quite who they originally appeared to be. He’ll also have to undergo a series of trials, namely making his way through a winding maze, before finally reaching Dracula’s castle.
This final confrontation starts off scary enough–Dracula looks terrifying and his ability to magically disappear and reappear constantly will put you on edge–but, instead of an exciting final battle, it ends up being a war of words. Dracula will ask you a series of questions and you simply need to answer correctly to please him. The final few scenes up the excitement level somewhat, but overall the ending of the series isn’t very satisfying and somewhat confusing. It’s worth watching if you’ve already played through the rest of the series but, if not, you’re not missing much.
In addition to the interview with the vampire, you’ll also have to make your way through a maze and solve a number of other puzzles. But really, the gameplay remains unchanged from the previous games. It’s still the same blend of traditional point-and-click gameplay and casual sensibilities, that makes it very easy to get into but also eliminates virtually any challenge. Likewise, the voice acting and visuals are the same, aside from the addition of Dracula himself. The infamous vampire actually features a pretty unique design, and his look and way of speaking are unlike most of the draculas you’ve seen before. He’s dirty, angry, and looks like he’ll bite at any moment.
Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve already played through chapters one and two. If that’s the case, The Destruction of Evil is definitely worth a play, if only to finally get a look at Dracula. But if you’ve been on the fence about the series, the final chapter will do little to change your opinion for the better.

You’ll never find a scenario that looks boring; enemy barracks, tanks, electric fences, river dams, and much more all serve to make every mission dynamic and different. You even get some nice eye candy for good measure – enemy vehicles and structures go out in glorious pyrotechnics at the hands of your demolitions expert. Your six Commandos are all unique in appearance and attitude. They’re a charismatic bunch and will quickly grow on you, although their German enemies look rather boring by comparison. There isn’t much music to speak of in Commandos, and the sound, though authentic, is sparse. And though the commandos sound great and become immediately distinguishable through their speech, they have disappointingly few speaking lines. The Germans don’t have a lot to say either.
An unobtrusive and clever interface borders the screen, showing the various tools in the selected commando’s knapsack, any of which can be selected with the click of a mouse. However, this interface is mostly for show; it’s quicker just to hit the appropriate keyboard hotkey to select your green beret’s combat knife for example – and in Commandos, every moment counts. Moving your men is as simple as clicking the desired destination or double-clicking to make the commando run. You need to micromanage everybody, and no one will move an inch without your express orders. This isn’t a problem; just keep your idle men hidden at all times and you’ll be OK.
To be sure, Commandos is a good strategy game not so much because of its fine look and interface, but because it makes you think. You needn’t worry about real-time strategy protocol like fog of war and resources or having to restart from scratch every time you mess up (you can save whenever you like). Instead, you get a select group of specialists at your disposal, along with a concise yet informative mission briefing that clearly defines your task. You have nearly limitless reconnaissance data at your disposal; you can scroll all around the map, identify all enemy patrols, and even see each enemy’s field of vision represented onscreen through a sweeping colored cone.
And so, you’ll always have your work cut out for you – what you need to do is figure out exactly how to get the job done. Thus you need to develop a long-term plan, not unlike the skilled chess player facing an equally competent opponent. Essentially, you must figure out how to eliminate every enemy who stands in your way without any of the other enemies noticing. This will never prove an easy task, as the odds are always awful. But then again, the elements of stealth and surprise are always on your side. Guards cannot hear your men moving, nor can they hear their fellows die by your silent weapons. But if they see any of your men, or witness anything suspicious, they’ll get riled up and you’ll be in serious trouble.
To succeed, you must coordinate your troops. For instance, the marine is an adept killer, able to emerge from underwater instantly, armed and ready with knife and harpoon gun – but he needs the green beret’s brawn to dispose of the bodies. And if the spy can find an enemy uniform and distract the enemy, then the driver will be able to sneak past and steal a parked tank. The combinations aren’t always binary; solving certain situations in Commandos can be very complex and challenging but always logical and predictable. You cannot slow the game down or speed it up, and so you’ll occasionally need to employ a little dexterity and good timing. But these action elements only amplify the game’s visceral appeal and do not detract from its strategic core. You’ll also run into the occasional pathing problem trying to operate a large vehicle, but aside from that, Commandos controls just fine.
Commandos contains a single linear campaign composed of 20 big missions. The linearity isn’t problematic; while there exists a best way to win each scenario, you always get plenty of room to be especially creative or just a little reckless. And because they’re well designed and open-ended, you’ll want to play most of them more than once. Any of these missions can be attempted cooperatively with up to five other players, each responsible for at least a single troop. However, the true pleasure in this game is coordinating the entire squad single-handedly, anticipating how a situation will transpire and watching it go according to plan or successfully improvising when things don’t go your way. And what a pleasure – after you navigate your team through or past some 50-odd nonchalant German guards, destroy a vital enemy installation, and hijack a means of escape, you may well find Commandos sneaking its way to the top of your list.

Controversy about the image of Apple Offers Rich Internet

“It’s been a very overwhelming experience,” Mr. Mak, 19, said by telephone between classes at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design. “I still attend classes and lessons as usual. But as far as following my assignments, it’s been difficult. ”
Mr. Mak said he had developed his design in late August – a white Apple logo on a black background, with a black silhouette of Mr. Jobs indented in the apple – as a tribute to Mr. Jobs after he stepped down as chief executive of Apple.
Mr. Mak said he had searched across the Internet both for inspiration and to ensure he was not copying another design. He said his searches had not uncovered Mr. Thornley’s design.
He then posted the tweaked Apple logo on his blog. Mr. Mak also asked the public to alert him if they spotted similarities between his work and others.
The design lay quietly on his blog for weeks until Mr. Jobs’s death on Oct. 5.
“Overnight, my Web site went from getting 80 responses to tens of thousands,” he said. “At first I was very happy.”
But by the weekend, Mr. Mak said, people began informing him how similar his design was to Mr. Thornley’s, which featured a black Apple logo on a white background, with a white silhouette of Mr. Jobs at a slightly different angle.
Mr. Mak said he had received notification Sunday night from Mr. Thornley’s wife, Julia, about the similarities of the two designs.
In the world of graphic design, similarities between images are quite common, said Juliette Cezzar, director of the communication design program at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. But Mr. Mak’s case shows how easy it has become to unearth similar images or outright copies.
“If we were living in a different age, it would take weeks, maybe months to discover copies,” Ms. Cezzar said. “Now it can take 24 hours. That is a good thing. ”
In a statement released to the news media, Mr. Thornley said he had followed the controversy while receiving treatment for a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He said he had first developed his design in May “because I wanted to celebrate the fact that someone who had cancer was still working, still driving forward and still thinking positively about the future.”
Mr. Thornley, a 40-year-old living in Darwen, England, acknowledged the dangers the digital age presented to creativity.
“The Internet can be a double-edged sword,” he said. “You need to use the Internet in order to promote yourself, but in order to do this you are making yourself vulnerable to these situations.”
Mr. Thornley said he hoped to speak with Mr. Mak soon about the two designs.
“J. Mak has been as honest as he can about the situation, I think, “he said. “It is important to have the debate about this, and J. Mak has to be credited for opening up the debate and not hiding from it. ”
Such an environment “is really stressful for designers,” said Ms. Cezzar. “You don’t want to be called out in front of the world and called a copier.”
For his part, Mr. Mak said the past week had provided a lesson he could apply as a graphic designer.
“It really taught me to be very careful about what I say and do,” Mr. Mak said. “With all the negative publicity I received in Hong Kong, it taught me to be very careful. At the same time, I need to stay true to my sense of aesthetics.

The Value in Older Hardware
Despite the A5 chip gaming advancements, Apple will also keep older hardware in play, particularly third-generation devices: the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3rd generation.
Apple only gave the iPod touch a cosmetic upgrade, in place of any internal hardware upgrade. After all, Apple described the iPod touch as the most popular handhold gaming console in the world. Apple has typically let its devices remain in use with updates for two years. If this pattern holds true, the A4 devices will be around for awhile. Many games won’t need more powerful hardware after all. For example, Where’s My Water is not a hardware-taxing game, and yet it currently sits at number one for paid apps on both the iPhone and iPad (as of this writing).
Apple retains the iPhone 3GS as a means of bringing customers into the fold of iOS, when they otherwise might not have ever owned an iPhone at all. Apple’s exciting little secret is that the phone is still quite capable. It features the same amount of RAM as the iPod touch 4th generation and the original iPad. And while its processor is slightly less powerful, it features a lower-resolution screen for games to render. This will help developers continue running demanding games on lesser hardware. In fact, 3D games will likely have similar performance on the iPhone 3GS as on the A4 devices’ Retina Display resolution.
It’s telling that Infinity Blade 2, the same game used by Apple to show off the A5′s capabilities, will be available for the iPhone 3GS. The hardware is still capable, so there’s no reason for it to go away any time soon.
While gaming has the potential to advance to all-new levels – and there will be games that exploit the A5 processor’s power – the majority of games should be perfectly playable on all current iOS devices for the foreseeable future. Apple appears to be playing both sides of the gaming market here: welcoming games that push the newest hardware envelope, while also allowing older-generation devices to play the majority of new releases. It’s this flexibility that will continue to strengthen the App Store gaming market.
